Academic Interests
I am interested in understanding the ecological and evolutionary mechanisms that influence both nest building and nest use in birds. My research focuses on the experimental study of thermal adaptations in the nests of a grassland specialist, the Grass Wren (Cistothorus platensis). Specifically, I investigate how parental behavior and nest orientation affect thermal regulation and insulation, with the goal of understanding their impact on reproductive success.
