Academic Interests

I am interested in the mechanisms, functions, and evolution of animal communication, focusing on the vocal behavior of Grass Wrens (Cistothorus platensis) throughout the breeding season. I aim to elucidate the influence of both intra- and intersexual selection on male songs. I would like to know the information acoustic signals convey and how they are used across social and reproductive contexts. Additionally, I have started to research anthropogenic factors that may affect the singing behavior to reach an integral view of communication strategies in avian species.
